Central Oregon Design-Build · CCB# 262422

A home and a shop under one roof, engineered for Central Oregon.

We design and build engineered post-frame homes, barndominiums, shouses, and shops for acreage owners around Bend, Redmond, Sisters, and La Pine. Every project starts with a plan that covers the whole property: the building, the well, the septic, the driveway, and the budget for all of it.

The first step is a short inquiry and a conversation about your land, your goals, and your budget.

Why post frame, done right

Three decisions shape how your building lives. We start with all three.

Engineered Post Frame

Laminated structural columns on concrete Perma-Column foundations, stamped by a structural engineer for the snow and wind loads on your parcel. Post frame carries the roof on the perimeter, so interior walls go wherever your life needs them: great rooms, shop bays, or both.

What that makes possible

Building Science Driven

Heat, air, and moisture are planned before the first post is set. Continuous exterior insulation, smart vapor control, and rain screen walls are how a building stays warm through a Cascade winter and dries out after every storm.

How the assembly works

High Performance By Design

Every project begins with paid, professional preconstruction: scope, budget, engineering, and site strategy worked out on paper, where changes cost hours instead of change orders. You review the full picture before construction pricing is set.

How planning works
“We created this planning system to give our clients the roadmap we wished we had at the beginning of our own journey.” Sean Kampstra, Owner

We lived this build before we built for you

Your consultant first. Your builder second.

Before High Performance Post Frame existed, Sean and his wife spent over a year searching for their own land. They moved their family into an RV on the property to stay close to the work. Along the way they met every cost that shows up after the handshake: site development, well, septic, power, engineering, permits.

That experience became our planning system. Today Sean walks every client through each decision and what it means for comfort, durability, and budget, the same way he wishes someone had walked him through his.

What we build

One structural system. Six ways to use it.

Custom Homes

Fully custom post-frame homes designed around your site, your solar exposure, and the way your family lives.

Barndominiums

Open-span living designed as a real home: architectural exteriors, warm interiors, and room for everything you haul.

Shouses

Shop and house in one envelope, with air sealing between them so the shop stays in the shop.

Shops & Garages

High-end shops with clear spans, tall doors, insulated slabs, and heat that makes January a working month.

Small Commercial

Engineered post-frame commercial buildings under 20,000 square feet, from storage to storefront.

Additions & Buildouts

Additions and interior buildouts that bring existing shops and outbuildings up to living standard.

The 9-step roadmap

Great buildings start with planning.

Design & Preconstruction is a professional service you hire on its own terms. It typically runs 2% to 5% of the anticipated project budget, and the finished package belongs to you. Build with us, or take it anywhere.

Discover

Goals, budget, intended use, and the vision for your property over time.

Evaluate

Site access, drainage, solar exposure, wind, utilities, and what your parcel makes easy or expensive.

Design

Floor plans and layouts that balance how it works with how it looks.

Optimize

Building science applied to the design: comfort, durability, and energy use decided on paper.

Engineer

Structural design stamped for your county's snow, wind, and seismic requirements.

Specify

Materials chosen for lifecycle value, with the tradeoffs of each option explained.

Estimate

A complete budget across the whole project, including the site costs most people meet too late.

Prepare

Permits, construction documents, and coordination, ready for a clean start.

Build

Ground breaks with a plan everyone has already read.

The High Performance Wall Assembly

What you can't see decides how the house lives.

Two buildings can look identical from the driveway and live completely differently in February. The difference is layered into the wall: how it holds heat, where air moves, and how water gets out.

  • ZIP R sheathing wraps the structure in continuous exterior insulation, so framing stays warm and energy stays inside.
  • Rockwool insulation is non-combustible stone wool. It insulates, quiets rain on the roof, and holds its shape for the life of the wall.
  • SIGA Majrex vapor control lets the assembly dry seasonally instead of trapping moisture where you can't see it.
  • A rain screen cavity behind the siding drains and vents every drop that gets past the cladding.
  • Perma-Column foundations are precast concrete. Every structural post stands above the soil, which settles the longevity question buyers ask most.

Building performance packages

Three levels of performance. One honest conversation about which you need.

Every package is engineered post frame on concrete foundations. The difference is how far the envelope and mechanical systems go, and we will tell you where each dollar earns its keep on your project.

Foundation Series™

Smart design. Proven performance.

ZIP sheathing, quality double-pane windows, fiberglass or Rockwool insulation, and efficient heating. Best for shops, investment properties, and budget-focused builds that still deserve real engineering.

Performance Series™

The core of what we do.

ZIP R walls, SIGA Majrex, rain screen assembly, Rockwool, triple-pane windows, and a standing seam roof. Best for primary residences, barndominiums, and buildings you plan to heat every day for decades.

Signature Series™

Our highest performing system.

Everything in Performance, plus enhanced exterior insulation, premium triple-pane windows, hydronic radiant slabs, dedicated ventilation, and passive solar design. Best for forever homes and mountain retreats.

After move-in

We stay interested in how your building performs.

Weekly updates

A written update every Friday during construction, with photos and the decisions coming next.

30-day check-in

A month after move-in, we walk the building with you and tune what a lived-in month reveals.

Annual health review

Performance reviews at six months and one year keep the building doing what it was engineered to do.
